Paula Hines is an SYT (Senior Yoga Teacher) from London who has practised and studied yoga since 2001. Her teaching has a particular focus on restorative yoga, yin yoga and yoga nidrā. Paula’s own experience of yoga’s capacity to aid recovery from injury and ease stress led her to train as a teacher after fourteen years of working full time in TV and fuels her desire to share yoga’s life-enhancing benefits with others.
An experienced restorative yoga teacher, Paula is an Advanced Relax and Renew Trainer having studied with the renowned Judith Hanson Lasater, with a special focus on the therapeutic aspects of this practice for a range of conditions including anxiety and depression. Related to this, Paula has trained in Yoga Therapy for Anxiety with Heather Mason at The Minded Institute, and Bo Forbes (Yoga, Mindfulness, Neuroscience, the Body and Contemplative Practice).
Paula is also a qualified Total Yoga Nidrā Teacher and Facilitator (an approach which encompasses a range of yoga nidrā traditions with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli), yin teacher (having studied with Norman Blair) and Menopause Yoga™ teacher. Having used yoga as a tool to live positively with her own scoliosis, Paula has also studied Yoga for Scoliosis to deepen her knowledge in this area. Her commitment to studying yoga as a teacher and student is ongoing.
For eight years, Paula was a senior teacher and lecturer on Sally Parkes’ 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Course, teaching the modules on Restorative Yoga and Yoga for Back Care. She has also been a guest lecturer on Restorative Yoga for Petra Coveney’s Menopause Yoga™ teacher training at Yogacampus.
In addition, Paula is an experienced writer with script-writing credits for the BBC and the author of Rest + Calm: Gentle yoga and mindful practices to nurture and restore yourself (Green Tree, Bloomsbury Publishing). Also, since 2012 she has been a columnist and features writer for OM Yoga & Lifestyle Magazine, the most popular yoga title in the UK.
