Nicola’s love for yoga was sparked by an energetic and uplifting power yoga class in NYC in 2008. Finding that it enabled her to combine her joy for movement with a need for stillness, she then worked her way through the range of physical yoga traditions and styles – discovering as much fulfilment in the intensity of Rocket yoga as in the gentleness of restorative.
Her journey to teaching began while living and working in a conflict zone overseas. Realising the power of community while living in an enclosed environment under pressure, and of bringing such a community together to decompress, she brought vinyasa teachers into the space and started her own teacher training in Yin Yoga with The Yoga People. Seeing the mental benefits of yoga on people living in tough conditions, and appreciating how movement helped bodies of all types, she decided to take it further – and on return to London in 2018 began her 200hr Foundation Training with Yoga London. Since then, she has completed her 500hr Advanced Teacher Training with Jason Crandell, and additional training in Rocket and Mandala Vinyasa with the Yoga People.
Nicola’s approach to teaching helps students of all bodies, and all abilities, find joy and stillness through movement. Weaving her experience of different styles into her classes, her vinyasa flow is energetic, playful and light. She aims to leave her students feeling invigorated, but relaxed and with a sense of achievement. She also enjoys helping students find the best way to enjoy a yoga pose in their unique body, and taking this interest even further she is starting a BA in Osteopathy in 2021.
