PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL CLASSES
Yoga and Pilates during pregnancy can be very beneficial, however it is generally advised that you do not practice either activity in your 1st trimester as doing so may increase the risk of miscarriage. It is therefore our policy not to allow pregnant students to participate in classes during this period.
For students in their 2nd and 3rd trimester, Embody offers a dedicated pregnancy yoga class on Wednesdays from 5.30 – 6.45pm. This is an all-level class and no previous yoga experience is required.
Access for pregnant students to other classes is limited. There are only a few teachers at Embody who are trained and insured to accept pregnant students, and if you wish to attend one of their classes you must first speak with the teacher to obtain their permission. As a rule you will need to have been practicing yoga or Pilates prior to becoming pregnant, and you will need to be aware of the modifications to poses and exercises required to ensure that your practice remains safe for you and the baby. We also ask that you check with your GP or midwife for their advice on activity and exercise during your pregnancy.

When attending these classes please be sure to check if a cover teacher is scheduled as this may mean you will not be permitted entry, and please note that attendance will always be at the teacher’s discretion and is not guaranteed.

Pregnancy Yoga: Wednesdays 5.30 – 6.45pm
Taught by Jo Harris, our pregnancy classes require no previous yoga experience and are a great way to become birth-fit while pampering yourself a little and supporting good sleep patterns and general relaxation. They’re also a wonderful way to meet other mums-to-be in the local area. Suitable from week 14 to birth with GP or midwife approval.

For this class, a special 5-class yoga pack is available for just £70.00 (reducing the price to £14.00 per class instead of the standard drop-in rate of £18.00).
Mother & Baby
Mother and baby postnatal classes are a great way to meet and share with other mums in the local area. Classes are suitable for babies from newborn to crawling. For mums, it’s recommended waiting six weeks after a natural birth and twelve weeks after a caesarean.
Mother & Baby: Mondays 10.45 – 11.45am & Wednesdays 2.30 – 3.30pm
Drawing on elements of both yoga and Pilates, the focus of this gentle yet effective post-natal class is to re-tone your body after pregnancy and help reduce physical tension and strain. The class is designed to include your baby in a playful way to stimulate development and health, and includes gentle massage and interactive sensory play. Taught by Jo Harris, the mood is fun, friendly and relaxed, and of course you can feed, change and cuddle your baby at any time. No yoga or Pilates experience necessary.
