What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional system of healing and medicine which originated in India 5000 years ago. It is holistic, comprehensive and simple to understand, although the science behind it is rich and complex.

Treatment involves an in-depth Ayurvedic consultation to determine your Prakruti and Vikruti. This includes a review of your current symptoms, past and present medical history and diet and lifestyle. A physical examination of your tongue and pulse will help diagnoses of your current imbalance. Once a diagnosis has been reached a mutually suitable treatment plan is drawn up.

Ayurvedic Cleanse

Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic process to intensively cleanse and purify the body of accumulated toxins and excessive Dosha’s (to understand Dosha’s read ‘What is Ayurveda’). Due to poor or excessive dietary habits our digestion gets impaired, causing a toxic substance called ‘Ama’ to accumulate in the body, which interferes with normal bodily functions creating imbalances and ultimately disease.

The aim of Panchakarma (Ayurvedic cleanse) particularly during seasonal change, is to cleanse the body of excessive toxins (Ama), to restore the body’s digestive power “Agni”, bring balance to the body, mind and emotions and alleviate chronic conditions. Each cleanse follows a specific diet, taking Ayurvedic herbs and involves purgation, nasal administration or herbal enemas.

So whether it is for periodic prevention or to deal with specific health problems, Ayurveda recommends Panchakarma as a form of cleansing and detoxification not just to overcome illness but to purify the body and strengthen it so that not only do you enjoy a long life but one that is in good health. An Ayurvedic cleanse is particularly recommended for skin conditions as a pre-requisite to complete recovery. £100 | Full cleanse programme

The method of cleanse is determined based on an initial consultation, where your current symptoms are observed, pulse is taken and the presence of Ama (toxins) is measured. A cleanse programme is then tailored to remove toxins, improve digestion and help alleviate chronic conditions. The Panchakarma programme usually lasts between 8 – 16 days depending on your current health.

This includes:

    • Initial 75 min Consultation to look at current imbalance, tongue and pulse diagnosis
    • Prescription and sourcing of herbs to take during and after the cleanse (excl. cost of herbs + P&P)
    • A detailed dietary plan before, during and after the cleanse, outlining foods to eat and avoid
    • How to prepare the body for detoxification, with food and lifestyle adjustments
    • Day of the cleanse – written directions on how to best perform an effective purification process
    • Specific method on how to cleanse whether through purgation, nasal administration or herbal enema, based on Doshic imbalance
    • Juicing recipes to best support the cleanse
    • Online/telephone support during the cleanse
    • Online follow up consultation once the cleanse is complete
    • How to rejuvenate the body, increase energy and vitality after the cleanse
