ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture Treatments at Embody Wellness in Vauxhall, South London

Acupuncture is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is one of the oldest and most respected healing practices in the world. Originating in China more than two thousand years ago, it is based on the principle that vital energy (qi) must flow in the correct strength and quality throughout the body in order to maintain optimal health and wellbeing. Practitioners look at pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance, and as with all other therapeutic aspects of TCM, acupuncture works to restore balance and harmony.

Acupuncture is considered to be beneficial for many conditions including arthritis, rheumatism, digestive disorders, back pain, sciatica, headaches, gynaecological issues, allergies and insomnia. It can also be effective in reducing stress and anxiety and for people working to overcome addictions.

The initial acupuncture consultation is designed to give you and your practitioner the opportunity to discuss symptoms you are concerned about in a holistic context. In addition to enquiries about your medical history and day-to-day lifestyle habits you will be asked how you feel your health and wellbeing could be improved.

A brief physical examination follows which allows the practitioner to formulate a suggested course of treatments which may involve a combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha and tui na massage.

Does your health insurance cover your treatment?

We recommend that you contact your health insurance provider prior to making an appointment to check if acupuncture is covered by your plan. Without an authorisation code from your provider you will be required to pay for the treatment in full on the day.

Our acupuncture services are provided by Andrea Steinlechner.
